The Galleries can be accessed by the buttons on the left, but this page serves as an introduction and overview of each gallery.
Plant Abstracts - Images of Shape, Texture and Colour fill this gallery which offers an abstract view of living plants and flowers.
Panoramics - These pictures were taken on a fuji 6cm x 17cm camera (remember the old days of film!) and add a new dimension to the landscape picture.
Antarctica - Surely one of the most spectacular places on earth. This gallery includes Images from the Falklands and South Georgia
Antarctica Emperors - A special trip to photograph the amazing Emperor Penguin.
Australia - The Island continent holds many unique plants and animals and is a place I must return to.
Britain - My home country. Not the easiest place in the World to photograph the wildlife, which has learned to fear man over the centuries. Although overcrowded, this Island nation still retains some beautiful countryside, much of which lies within protected areas. There are 3 galleries as follows:
England - The most populous part of the island, but there are still pictures out there
Scotland - My favourite place for landscapes, especially the remote North West. I am planning to spend more time in Scotland in the future
Shetland Isles - Yes, I know this is technically part of Scotland, but it is different and probably the best place in the UK to photograph wildlife - although the weather can be a problem.
Europe I haven’t done a vast amount of wildlife photography in Europe as yet, but this is something I’m planing to change over the next few years.
Spain - Some of the most spectacular birds in Europe can be found in Spain and this gallery reflects this.
Hungary - The relatively unspoilt countryside of Hungary means that birds here are abundant.
Finland - Wildlife is difficult to find in this Scandinavian country, but it does hold some very interesting species
Norway - This gallery is from high above the Arctic Circle in Winter and features the three species of Eider Duck that Winter there.
North America The diversity of wildlife and landscape make the US and Canada an excellent place for photography and access to most places is usually very good. There are several galleries for North America as follows:
Bosque Del Apache - One of my favourite places to practice the art of bird photography.
Florida - I spent 8 weeks in Florida at the start of 2005 and these pictures represent a selection of my favourite images. Of all the places I’ve been to in the World, I would say that Florida has the tamest birds - and this leads to great photography opportunites.
Hawaii and Midway - Hawaii with it’s unique honeyeaters and diverse scenery, is a complete contrast to the small flat dot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that is Midway. Midway has 3 species of Albatross, Tropic Birds and Fairy Terns A truly magical place, despite most of it being covered in military concrete!
The North West - Snow covered volcanoes, masses of wildflowers and the most amazing coasts I’ve ever seen characterise this part of the US which juts up against the Canadian border.
Michigan - The Autumn colours of North America are justly famous and Michigan on the coast of Lake Superior is a great place to witness this spectacle of nature.
Canadian Rockies - The dramatic landscape of the region is amazing by itself, but Hummingbirds abound and bears populate the woods.
Africa - Namibia - One of the most stable countries in Africa, Namibia has the highest sand dunes in the World, incredible quiver trees and the remarkable Etosha national park absolutely brimming with game and a real elephant hot spot. The food is excellent as well!
India - Bharatpur - The Keoladeo Ghan National Park in India is probably best known as simply ‘Bharatpur’ and is one of the finest wetland reserves in the World. If the monsoon rains have been good, tens of thousands of waterbirds and raptors spend the Winter months in this sanctuary.
South America - Only two locations from this massive and underworked area, but I am hoping to expand this in the coming years.
Galapagos - Anyone that is interested in natural history will want to visit the Galapagos Islands that were made famous by Chrales Darwin and the Voyage of the Beagle.
Peru - Rainforest, with its low light levels and damp conditions is probably the most difficult environment in the world for wildlife photography, but some of the wildlife is spectacular.
